ROTC & ECTS - Students attending ROTC and ECTS will still be required to attend these programs during the next three days of school closure (2/16-2/18/20). The district will still be providing transportation for these students. ROTC & ECTS students will not be permitted into the school during this closure so they will have to Zoom from an alternative location to be considered in attendance for their IHS classes.

It is regretful that I am informing you that we will be closing I.H.S. to students over the next three days (2/16-2/18/21). We are hopeful that we can reopen to students on Friday but that is unknown at the moment. We will be sending updates as we receive information. This closure is due to COVID 19 and a lack of professional staffing.
Currently there are no student cases being reported within the school or connected in any way to the staff members who are quarantined. After school sports scheduled for this week will still occur with the exception of tonight's (2/15/21) boys basketball game which also is in no way related to our closure.
Please remember to social distance and wear masks. Thank you all for your efforts so far this school year keeping I.H.S. live to instruction.

If you are in 8th – 12th grade and are interested in learning about careers in hospitality and tourism, education and training, or human services, then, please consider attending a virtual panel discussion on careers in these fields. The panel discussion will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 16 from 6:30 pm-7:30 pm and pre-registration is required. Please visit the high school website or the high school guidance office for additional information.

8th Grade Elite Brave: Elliot Moyer
Clubs and/or Sports: Erie Jr. Otters hockey
What do you love about Iroquois? I like the teachers that we have, and the way that they treat the kids with kindness and respect.
Future Aspiration: I would like to make it to a junior hockey team and then hopefully make it to professional hockey.
Favorite Teacher: The teacher with the most impact on me would be my band teacher Mr. Chase, because he has taught me to play a saxophone since 5th grade, and he is the reason I've improved so much, and if my hockey career doesn’t go as planned, then I might consider a musical career.

The thing I love most about Iroquois is the sense of community. Everyone has a chance to build relationships and find people who will be impactful in their lives.
Future Aspirations: I'm either going into politics or law. I absolutely love debating with other people, so it would only make sense for me to go into a career that has that.
Favorite Teacher: I think that Mrs. Skelton has made the most impact on me. She's been helping me with my education since I was in elementary school. She's played a huge role in helping me live up to my potential, and I wouldn't be where I am today without her.

Senior Parents:
The Yearbook Staff and I have been working hard to put together a publication that shows how unique our lives have been during this school year. Because of this, we want to make sure to include as much as possible, especially when it comes to congratulating our seniors. That is where you come in.
Since this has been such an unusual school year and your student has been uniquely involved, I am extending the deadline to order a Senior Parent Ad specifically for you to Thursday, February 11th -- which is next week. All ads are uploaded and written by you as the parent. Because of the extension granted, ads must be in their final form online by February 11th. If you do not wish to purchase a senior ad at this time, that is perfectly fine. I just wanted to give parents this extra opportunity.

10th Grade Elite Brave: Jalis Burgos-Welsh
Clubs and/or Sports: Basketball, Track & Field
What do you love about Iroquois? At Iroquois there are many opportunities to learn new things whether it was from a teacher or a classmate. Teachers make the lessons interesting by mixing up what we do. The lesson in some of my classes are always different from working on a project hands on or doing the work on the computer. The teacher shows a lot of attention to the students and tries to maintain a personal connection with them.
Future Aspirations: My future plans are to attend college to go into the marketing field. My ultimate goal when traveling is to visit every state in the U.S. and travel to at least 3 countries.
What teacher has made the most impact on you and why?
I would say Ms. Tobin has made the most impact on me this year because she encourages me to do my best on my work. When the class complains about the "hard" work she gives us, she always finds a way to motivate us to complete our work to our greatest potential.
Favorite Quote: "Never stop doing your best because someone didn't give you credit."

What do you love about Iroquois?
It’s just a great school. I’m learning new things and the staff and students are so welcoming. I’m not afraid to come to school, I have a fun time there.
Future Aspirations: I plan on attending Penn State to pursue a career in nursing.
What teacher has made the most impact on you and why?
Mr. Sovisky because he has seen me at my lowest and pushed me to become not only a better student but a better player on the court.

8th Grade Elite Brave: Kaitlyn Torres
Clubs and/or Sports: Volleyball
What do you love about Iroquois? I love the students and teachers.
Future Aspirations: I plan on attending a good college after high school. I am not positive what I want to be yet, but I have a few ideas.
What teacher has made the most impact on you and why?
It's hard to choose just one of my teachers, but Mrs. Bandur has had the greatest impact on me because so kind and patient with her students.
Favorite Quote: "No one ever made a difference by being like everyone else." - P.T Barnum

12th Grade Elite Brave: Daphne Juliano
What do you love about Iroquois?
I wouldn’t say that I love anything about High School, but I did grow fond of the teachers I met at the beginning of my senior year. They were very kind to me and I had a lot of fun in their classes.
Future Aspirations: My future aspirations at this point in my life are uncertain, however I do plan to publish a book that I am writing to help people like me with mental illnesses and to show them that they are not alone in their struggles.
What teacher has made the most impact on you and why?
There are three teachers that have made the most impact on me and they are Mrs. Boblentz, Ms. Cammarata and Mrs. Doverspike. They were nothing but kind to me and I had a lot of fun in their classes. I feel that they were the three teachers I connected with most because I could easily talk to them about class, good things going on in my life and the new books that I was reading. I admire them and their kindness, and they will be the teachers that I remember well after I’ve graduated high school.
Favorite Quote: “What winning is to me is not giving up, is no matter what's thrown at me, I can take it. And I can keep going.”- Patrick Swayze
