12th Grade Elite Brave: Andres Gonzalez Clubs and/or Sports: Football, ROTC, and PYD What do you love about Iroquois? I love the teachers and staff they are always loving and helping out the students. What are your future aspirations? I plan on attending EMT school in mid-July for 6 weeks and continue to be a volunteer firefighter. I will then go to the police academy when I turn 21 . What teacher has made the most impact on you and why? Mrs Goodnow she has the most impact on me due to her caring about thing even the small things. She has never once let me down when I'm feeling down, I can go her and sit and talk and complain if I need to and she always cheers me up or makes me smile before I go anywhere else and by far my favorite teacher ever. 11th Grade Elite Brave: Xavier Bayhurst Clubs and/or Sports: Cross Country, Model UN, Speech & Debate, Scholastic Scrimmage What do you love about Iroquois? On one side of the coin, the community surrounding Iroquois has a lot of potential to be something much bigger than itself, but on the other side of the coin, I feel there is a frequent demand for collaborative improvement. There are many ways the district can come to grow together, and I think that the first step is not only noticing “the things we love,” but also taking note of that which we don’t. What are your future aspirations? I am currently interested in pursuing a career in political science or law, although I’m not very committed to any particular profession or field of work. What teacher has made the most impact on you and why? It goes without saying that our educators are often unappreciated for their contributions to our lives. Years and years from now, although their names and faces may be lost to time, their impact on us as students will echo indefinitely through our character and actions. As we go our separate ways and live our subjective lives, it is an objective truth that although we may not remember them all, not one will be forgotten. A few that I will always remember are: Mrs. Pazder, whose love for 4th grade science is the origin behind my own interest in space, astronomy, and physics. Mr. Cadden, my 6th grade history teacher, whose dry humor and witty remarks always buffeted a lesson and the enjoyment behind it. Ms. Benovic, my 8th grade algebra teacher, who to strangers was an ambiguous, looming character, but who to students was an enthusiastic, and incredibly involved educator. Mr. Ferruggia, my 9th grade economics & current U.S. history teacher, whose passion for the social sciences shines through every humorous story, and every solemn lesson. Ms. Tobin, my 9th grade biology teacher, who, like a sentinel, was outwardly firm, but was relaxed, kind, and relatable at heart. Mr. Jones, my 10th grade Algebra II teacher, whose down-to-earth and patient demeanor was always a compliment to his subtle wit and wonderfully terrible jokes. Mr. Trojak, my current physics teacher, who I appreciate not just for his affluence in the subject, but the respect and undeniable concern he has for all of his students. And most notably, Mr. Peterman, who was the first of very few teachers who showed more interest in what went on outside of the classroom than the subject being taught in it. I have never felt more respected and understood in any other classroom than in his. He treated me not just as a student, but another person, and a person whose words were worth listening to.
