As part of a 5th grade ELA unit on the Maya, Aztecs, and Incas, the students researched a topic of their choice - farming methods, architecture, or social classes. The 5th graders learned how to take notes from a text, paraphrase text, and create their own paragraphs using topic sentences and conclusion statements. The final stage was to bring it all together into a Codex which included their paragraphs, pictures, and captions. The students are very proud to share their final products that demonstrate their learning from this unit. Thank you Mrs. Flagg for facilitating this creative project with our 5th grade students!

Getting to school every day and on time is a true family effort! This year, we will be doing a drawing each quarter for students to win a game and a Domino's gift card so families can host a family game night. How does your child get entered to win one of our baskets? Students missing or having 2 or fewer tardies/absences per quarter will be entered for the random drawing and two students per grade will be selected!
6th grade students spent today, National Kindness Day, spreading joy around IES. Mrs. Cadden, Mrs. Kinnane, Mrs. Foutz, and members of the IES Principal's Cabinet then traveled to IHS, and a few community establishments to continue sharing positivity and putting smiles on faces! We can't wait to continue this tradition in the future!
