Pioneer Day fun! Second grade finished up their CKLA unit on Westward Expansion. They celebrated Pioneer Day by dressing the part and building covered wagons. Then they strategically packed their wagons and traveled on the Oregon Trail with a fun dice game and the original Oregon Trail video game. Once they arrived, they built log cabins and enjoyed a delicious wagon train supper for lunch. They had such a great time!

Kindergarten was excited to end the Knowledge portion of this CKLA unit in a truly royal fashion! They have been learning all about Kings and Queens dating as far back as 300 years ago. The students have enjoyed hearing about royal kingdoms and royal families, and practicing their rhyming with stories like “Old King Cole” and “Sing a Song of Sixpence”. Their wordwork focused on multiple meanings of words like “ball” and sequencing events in stories like “Cinderella” and “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”. Yesterday they wrapped up the unit with a parade of royalty and a tea party celebration!
