Attention IES Families: Mrs. Miller, Miss Wittman, and the 4th grade students are collecting used but undamaged eclipse glasses to send to Latin America so school-age children can view the October 2024 Annular Eclipse. Glasses can be turned into homeroom teachers or they can be dropped off to the donation bin located in the Iroquois Elementary School office.

Attention IES families: As a reminder, parent teacher conferences will take place tomorrow, March 14 at the elementary school. Students in kindergarten through sixth grade do not have school tomorrow. Pre-K students do have school tomorrow. There is no school for all students on Friday, March 15. Kindergarten students met with Tom Atkins from the Jet 24 news station to learn more about weather and a meteorologist's job. Our students were able to show him some of the knowledge they learned during the current CKLA unit as well as ask some really great questions. He will be featuring our IES students on the news tonight!

IES Families: The student art show will take place on Thursday, March 14th during Parent Teacher Conferences in the IES Cafeteria. The art show will showcase pieces made by each grade level over the year. All IES students will have a framed piece of art that their parents may take with them free of charge! Artwork will be sent home with students next week if parents do not attend conferences in person. Thank you Mrs. Leslie for making this possible for each of our students here at IES!

Attention IES Families: From Mrs. Cadden: This is the FINAL WEEK of this year’s Kids Heart Challenge! We’re doing a fantastic job learning about heart health and working towards our fundraising goal. Remember- any student who raises $150 or more gets to silly string Mrs. Cadden, and $300 or more gets Mrs. Foutz! We will have our celebration day tomorrow with some awesome and exciting stations in the gym. The last day to submit donations is Friday, March 8. Contact Mrs. Cadden with any questions.

5th graders at IES created persuasive essays to accompany the ELA book "The Adventures of Don Quixote." Students learned about the different elements of the persuasive essay along with the stages of the writing process - Brainstorming, Rough Draft, Editing, Revising, and Publishing. For the culminating activity, their essays were displayed as medieval scrolls, and the students shared their essays to the class.

Pioneer Day fun! Second grade finished up their CKLA unit on Westward Expansion. They celebrated Pioneer Day by dressing the part and building covered wagons. Then they strategically packed their wagons and traveled on the Oregon Trail with a fun dice game and the original Oregon Trail video game. Once they arrived, they built log cabins and enjoyed a delicious wagon train supper for lunch. They had such a great time!

Join IES on Tuesday, March 5 for Book Bingo to celebrate Read Across America Week! Students can decorate their own bookmarks, play bingo, enjoy Dr. Seuss-themed treats, and read to a therapy dog! The event will run from 6-7:30pm, with bingo starting at 6:30pm. Win or lose, EVERY child will leave with a new book! Due to limited supplies, an RSVP is required for this event.
