2020 Halloween Celebrations at Iroquois Elementary School

Dear Parent(s) and Guardian(s),

The faculty, staff, and administration at Iroquois Elementary School have been working to plan and prepare for a safe and exciting Halloween for our students. We will celebrate Halloween on Friday, October 30, 2020. In light of the fact that we are unable to allow parent volunteers into the building or accept treat donations, all students will still be allowed to participate in a classroom party! Classroom parties will consist of school provided snacks, treat bags, crafts, and activities. Administration assured that all materials were assembled with enough time to follow the CDC recommendation of sitting for a 24-hours period prior to student distribution.

We are asking that all students wear their costumes to school this year as we are unable to assist them in getting ready. Students and staff will wear regular face masks for the duration of the school day, including the classroom party. Costume masks do not replace the masks that are required to prevent the spread of COVID-19. As in the past, students are asked to leave bloody/violent masks, costume weapons, and weapon replicas that pertain to the costumes at home. If a child brings in any prohibited items, he/she will not be permitted to use them.

We will be hosting a virtual parade this year! In the morning, administration will take individual pictures of all students in their Halloween Costumes and compile the photos into a virtual parade. The virtual parade will be released to the faculty, staff, students, and parents by the of the school day on October 30. Parents will be able to access the video through a link on the Iroquois Elementary School website. Feel free to watch and enjoy the video with your student when he/she returns home from school.

We know this Halloween will look a little different then it has in the past, but the staff and administration are confident that we are able to provide a fun and safe environment for the students to celebrate Halloween. If you have any questions, please contact the Iroquois Elementary School office at 814 899-7643 x2000.

Thank you,

Jennifer Foutz
